This prices a hardwood floor install the way a flooring contractor takes it off. The room area plus your waste allowance is the material to order, priced at your cost per square foot with underlayment and your markup; install and removal labor are priced on the room area at your rates; transitions and thresholds are counted per doorway and priced each; and the estimate ends on the total with the price per square foot beside it. Free, on the page, no account; the paid plan saves it against the customer and sends it under your own name.
Order with waste, lay without it
Material is ordered on the room area plus the waste allowance, because cuts, defects and the last row do not come free; labor is priced on the room area alone, because nobody lays the offcuts. The tool keeps the two square footages apart, which is the single thing most estimate forms get wrong and the reason a job comes up a box short or a labor line too high.
Underlayment and removal are lines, not allowances
Underlayment is a material with its own cost per square foot and it goes into the marked-up materials line; taking up the old floor is labor at its own rate per square foot and it goes with the install labor. Showing both as lines is what lets a customer who has already stripped the room see the price drop by exactly the removal.
Count the transitions, then show the price per foot last
Every doorway needs a transition or a threshold, counted and priced each, because they are hardware and an hour of fitting rather than square feet. The tool prints the price per square foot beneath everything, as the result of the lines rather than a number you started from, because that is the figure the customer will compare against the neighbour's floor.
Hardwood floor estimate calculator: common questions
Is this a free hardwood floor estimate calculator?
Yes. It prices the install on the page with no account: the square feet to order with waste, materials and underlayment at your cost and markup, install and removal labor, transitions, the total and the price per square foot. Print it as it stands. TakeoffDeck Pro adds your company name and logo, a PDF without our line, and saving it against the customer.
How much waste should I allow for hardwood?
Your figure for the layout and the product: the worked example uses 10% for a straight lay in a regular room, and diagonal or herringbone layouts, small rooms with many cuts and lower grades of board need more. The tool applies the allowance to the order and not to the labor.
Do I charge for removing the old floor?
At your rate per square foot, as its own line, and the tool asks for it separately for that reason. A customer who has already taken the old floor up should see the removal line at zero and nothing else change; a customer who has not should see what it costs before the crew arrives to find carpet.
